How to self-control
Intend to control your actions and activate blin. Blin is the term I use to represent the activity of gaining awareness of presently important activities.
Why to self-control
The self inherently values universal minimal suffering and maximum enjoyment. The actions that occur in the absence of the self are worse at achieving this value. This is due to its unawareness of important activities, its endorsement of impressions, and its emotional behaviours.
I will start by explaining its unawareness of important activities.
Deadop is what I call the body’s actions when self-control is absent. Deadop’s way of operating is to justify ideas for what do based on impressions of the idea’s validity. An idea of what to do is not made valid by its presence in awareness. It is made valid by it being superior to all actively important activities. You can only know which activity is the one to be done by having all in awareness. This enables comparison of urgency, which establishes an order of completion. This order acts as tangible instructions for the self to follow. A thing for the self to do. The self cannot just define the most important activity to be done by defining the most important activity to be done. It must do it by following a defined process. There must be a method. Know all actively important activities and define an order of completion. Without active awareness of all presently important activities you cannot do things to account for them. If you do anything before defining them, those actions will result in the neglect of them, so you must do nothing before they are all defined. The order of action must end in the new defining of actively important activities. This will create a cycle of creation that will prevent the running out of things to do.
This is due to the activity being made without use of information from long-term memory. This information is needed to avoid threats and move towards benefits. By default, no information from long-term memory is in awareness. It requires retrieving into awareness and after this, the retrieved information quickly decays until it is again only present in long-term memory. Deadop does not engage the choosing of activities. Activities just come into its awareness, and it does them. Since there is no action of choosing an activity, the information of long-term memory has no opportunity to be considered. The action of consideration has to occur before doing, for the doing to account for that information. Making decisions is a separate act to doing made decisions. Blin is the maker of decisions. Until you intend to activate it, consideration of known potential threats and benefits will not be present in your actions. You will do things that you know are bad because that knowledge is not in your awareness as you do those things, so it cannot steer you away from this thing, no matter how severe the consequence are, and no matter how much you would choose not to do them in trade for not having the negative consequence occur. You don’t get to choose activities that are one’s you think are best until you activate blin. Blin is the activity of gaining awareness of presently important activities.
Incompetency from neglecting known important activities makes deadop unable to make as much progress in doing good in comparison to the self using blin. Deadop also has traits that make it a vessel for bad deeds of all severity levels.
[provide deadop’s destructive emotional behaviours, and perhaps it’s constructive ones and show how even they have a net-negative impact on what we value]
[actions justified by impressions]
Old stuff that’s useful:
When deadop is trying to do something, and becomes aware of something that is preventing its doing, it gets angry. This is where it resorts to the achieving of anything that is within its power to be achieved, which is often destructive. When things get in the way of what the self is doing, it keeps doing, unless it determines that the inhibiting factors have made the task impractical. Then it will choose a different task
-Deadop enters state of despair whenever it is threatened with the loss to the things that enable its current way of living. This is where deadop becomes unwilling to face the change that is coming, and instead begs for its life to end. The self just does things towards its goal. Severe loss to the way of life that it is familiar is not a problem because it does not rely on habit to handle tasks. It instead tailor makes every decision to optimally serve its goal, no matter how challenging the circumstance is.
-When an important activity is threatening to stop something that is pleasuring deadop, it enters a state of discontent. This is a significantly uncomfortable feeling that comes from being in opposition with that which you value being done. This would result in deadop only doing enough of the important activity to enable its return to the pleasuring, rather than giving the activity full care.
Why to do blin
- Without blin, you can’t be aware of that which is presently most important. You do not have access to activities that you are not aware of, which means that the presently most important activity is being neglected.
any self control that occurs is being directed towards activities that were not defined through blin. Only actions defined through blin can be good, because blin is the action of defining which action is good. This means that without blin you are just doing actions. The actions you do are not defined to be good. They have no definition at all. They do not exist as terms in the conscious mind. The conscious mind is dead, and automatic operation is doing whatever it comes across that seems good. The information that you have in long-term memory is not present in awareness by default, which means that whatever the automatic operator comes across and chooses will not be chosen with that information in mind. The information in long-term memory is an essential utility in the creation of good decisions. A decision is good when it accounts for the information you have in long-term memory. This information allows you to create a decision that accounts for it to make it possible to avoid potential threats and steer towards potential gains.
